Bethel Board to decide two new administrators May 14

BETHEL SCHOOL DISTRICT — Pending the approval of the Bethel School Board,  the Bethel administration has selected Bryan Streleski to the be the new District Director of Athletics and Security and select David Hammond to be the new Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Schools.  The Board will take formal action on the recommendation at the May 14 board meeting.

Streleski is a Bethel High graduate and has worked for the past 8 years in Bethel School District, serving as a teacher, athletic coordinator, and dean of students. He is currently an assistant principal at Bethel High School.

Streleski will replace Dan Heltsley who is retiring at the end of the current school year.

Hammond is currently the Principal of Curtis High School in the University Place School District.  He holds a superintendent credential and is currently pursuing his doctoral degree at Washington State University.

If approved, his contract with Bethel School District will begin July 1.

Hammond will replace Roger Samples, who is retiring from the state of Washington and has accepted a Superintendent position with the Lone Rock School District in Montana.

    I always question why bsd needs so many superintendents at that wage when they are cutting custodial costs and hours. Facilities are their most valuable investment and they are letting them go downhill as a result. Since I am in many of the schools each week I see what is happening – how sad.
