FRANKLIN PIERCE SCHOOL DISTRICT — Ford Middle School teacher Erica Walter was only one of 22 applicants chosen in Washington State to receive a $5,000 grant from the CenturyLink Clark M. Williams Foundation. Walter’s grant proposal was focused on provided tablet computers to her students so that they could engage in a digital story-telling project. The lesson learning goals cited included students writing a script/essay for their digital story, explaining who they are as unique individuals and to create a digital story using an iPad, video editor, audio editor, and microphone to share with an audience. The lesson meets key components of the state standards for writing, state standards for technology, and National Educational Technology Standards.
CenturyLink’s Vice President and General Manager Sue Anderson surprised Walter with the grant award on Wednesday, May 22.
