Norwegian Language Christmas Service – Dec 3

Celebrate the meaning of Christmas at the Norwegian Language Christmas Service

The Norwegian Language Christmas Service takes place Dec. 3 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The Norwegian DSC_1644Language Christmas Service is put on by Pacific Lutheran University’s Scandinavian Cultural Center.

The service is held in the Ness Family Chapel at the University and is free and open to the public. The Scandinavian Christmas Service is an annual event dating back to 1975. The service provides an opportunity for the students in the Norwegian Studies Area and Scandinavian Studies Area to demonstrate their Norwegian language practices by performing spiritual songs and scripture readings that tell the story of Jesus. The candle-lit service ending the event has become a family tradition for many of the Tacoma-Seattle residents.

Following the service, a gathering in the Ness Family Chapel takes place. The gathering includes cookies, punch, and coffee. A link to the Scandinavian Cultural Center can be found here.
