February 10 at 7pm, Finn Brobakken, a native of Snertingdahl, Norway will be at the Scandinavian Cultural

Center at PLU. He will be discussing the people who left Norway for the united States in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. In less than 40 years time, almost half of the residents of this valley emigrated, mainly to the US and Canada.Also included in the presentation will be Judy Scott, a graduate of PLU’s Norwegian Program whose family also emmigrated from the Snertingdahl Valley in 1906. Her grandfather, Christian Miller ,was a foreign language professor and registrar at the University of Puget Sound from 1931 to 1957. He returned to his homeland in 1946, to

teach for a year at the University of Oslo shortly after WWII. Judy also visited Norway this year during the Norwegian Constitution 200th year Jubillee at Eidsvoll with her cousins.
