JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. – Armed Forces Community Services and the Service member for Life Transition Assistance Program at JBLM will host a two-day transition fair April 29-30 at the American Lake Conference Center, located on JBLM Lewis North.
The transition fair is open to active duty, Guard, and Reserve Soldiers and Airmen, Department of Army Civilians who are considering or preparing to depart the military, and all work age family members of each of the above groups.
DAY 1: The first day of the transition fair is scheduled for 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. It includes a series of workshops and networking classes developed to better prepare individuals for transition from the military to civilian sector education and employment.
Day one activities will also include two unique opportunities not previously offered to transitioning Service members, free haircuts and styling by Gene Juarez salon, for your free LinkedIn profile photo (offered during the 4:30 p.m. networking session), and the JBLM “Suit Closet” will open from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at Building 9057, where eligible service members will be invited to “shop” for a new suit (provided via industry donations) at no cost.
DAY 2: Day two of the transition fair is scheduled for 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. and will include both employer and education breakout sessions as well as a career fair. There are currently more than 100 registered employment and education recruiters from private sector, Department of Defense, and other federal and state agencies. Employment opportunities are available in careers ranging from Accounting and Administrative to Firefighters, Information Technology, Law Enforcement, Mechanical, Medical and various others.
