On Wednesday, May 22nd from 4 – 7 pm. at the Spanaway Cemetery, approximately 50 Youth and their Leaders from 3 of local LDS Congregations, will be on site to do clean up scrub moss off of grave markers and brighten up the headstones. The goal is to have it looking really nice for Memorial Day weekend.
Loretta Fulk, Director of Public Affairs, writes, “The Cemetery was created by my Great Grandfather, Christian Boettner, and his Brother, Ernst Boettner, my Great, Great Uncle. I know of the history of the brothers to a certain degree from my conversations with Shirley Wright and Boojee Bowman as well as some relatives. I have contacted my 3rd Cousin once removed, a grandson of Ernst’s, and invited him to come. ”
The cemetery, located on 176th and A Street, is a treasure of historic families from the area.
This story will have follow-up with photos of the activities. Thank you in advance for caring for the history of Spanaway!
