Our September 17th fundraiser has been postponed. After a series of discussions, the Hive Market determined that they do not share our values of environmental protection, leading us with a need for a new venue and more time to plan.

We have postponed our fundraiser to October 8th, with a new venue at the Dupont Community Center. You can RSVP for the event here. We will need your support to make this event a success.

Earlier this year we set out with a bold objective- to reject the Dupont Hearing Examiner’s decision to allow the illegal draining of the Vashon aquifer in Dupont, affecting wetlands in a 4-mile radius including Sequalitchew Creek. With the incredible generosity of our community, we have raised enough funds to file the appeal and sustain the first half of our legal fees, but the fight is not over. With our court schedule set through the remainder of the year, we’ve recieved unexpected increases in our legal fees, and project that we will need to double our fundraising goal.

CalPortland proposes an apparently unprecedented operation in Washington: intentionally lowering an aquifer to mine the saturated gravel beneath it. The aquifer feeds the wetlands and groundwater that sustain Sequalitchew Creek and its lush ravine ecosystem.

The mine expansion would also clear roughly 180 acres of forest and eliminate one of DuPont’s last large undeveloped green spaces.
