With music, gifted trees, and snacks of Trail Mix (What else?), Pierce County celebrated the new Parkland Community trail Ribbon Cutting.

The event began with a trail walking tour near Spire Rock at Sprinker Recreation center at 9:30 in the morning. This portion was hosted by ForeverGreen Trails and Executive Director Larry Leveen. When the 25 to 30 walkers reached the Bridge over Clover Creek, they brought out a microphone and let Al Schmauser tell the story of Clover Creek and the Clover Creek Council, now called Clover Creek Restoration Alliance.

The Renee Buck from the Watershed council set up a booth with information on the creek. ForeverGreen trails had some trees to give away, and Pierce County Parks set up some snacks and some activities for children.

County Council members Hitchen, Cruver, and Yambe were present. County Executive Mello and Blue Zones Executive Director Toupou were also on hand. Toupou spoke about the work starting on the Spanaway mural as well.

There was a broad representation of keenly involved community members present. In all, well over 100 participants from the community.

After about 20 minutes of speeches, they walked over to the bridge to cut the ribbon to cheers and clapping.
