Whether you live along an inland creek, wetland, or neighborhood lake, or near the marine shoreline stretching from DuPont to Ruston, you have likely experienced firsthand how water moves across our Pierce County landscape. From seasonal high flows and neighborhood drainage challenges to changing shoreline conditions, water affects all of us.
To help connect local property owners and residents with the history, planning, and broader decisions shaping our freshwater future, the Chambers-Clover Creek Watershed Council (CCWC) is hosting an interactive Watershed Systems Scenario Workshop for WRIA 12.
This is not a formal public hearing or a lecture. Instead, it is a collaborative, hands-on working session where community members can share their local knowledge and perspectives.
Participants from throughout the watershed are invited, including residents of DuPont, Steilacoom, University Place, Ruston, Tacoma, Fircrest, Lakewood, JBLM, and unincorporated Pierce County communities such as Midland/Collins, Parkland, Spanaway, Frederickson, northern Bethel, Graham, and western South Hill.
Attendees will sit side-by-side with municipal planners, tribal representatives, resource managers, and neighbors around large-format (36″ x 48″) GIS maps provided by Pierce County Surface Water Management.
Together, we will explore how local Growth Management Act (GMA) land-use decisions, stormwater compliance, open space preservation, water supply, and salmon recovery intersect and influence the future of our watershed.
Your local knowledge matters! Respond through the link and join the conversation. Bring your experiences, questions, and ideas to help shape the future of WRIA 12!
