Elk Plain Post 118 installs new officers

ELK PLAIN, WA — American Legion Elk Plain Post 118 Met on June 3, 2014 to install a new set of officers for the upcoming year.DSCF2470

The evening kicked off at 6 pm with a chili feed featuring several types/styles of chili, corn bread, and (Post 118’s favorite) Gooey Butter cake for dessert.   The meal was a success as leftovers were kept to a minimum.

DSCF2456Officer installation began at 7 pm with the Spanaway Lakes High School Jr ROTC Color Guard advancing the colors. American Legion 4th District Commander Jodi Johnson performed the ceremony with Frank Sterling installed as Post Commander, Heather Spaite and Steve Dawson installed as Adjutant, Heather was also installed as Chaplain and Steve as Sgt at Arms. Jeff Greaff and Nicholas Boulanger were installed as 1st and 2nd Vice-Commanders respectively. Pat Mills was installed as the Finance Officer.

Post 118 serves Veterans in the Elk Plain and Graham area. It meets the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month at the Elk Plain Grange Hall. The meetings start at 7 pm. Currently Post 118 is working on a Veteran’s Service Project that will provide service officers for then Veteran population in the area.
