Keeping tabs on local government

Local government affects you in your own household. Among their impacts they provide the policing, noise control, and local roads.

The Pierce County Council meets at a totally inconvenient time for working families, 3:00 p.m. on Tuesdays, but you can call or email your councilperson’s office. It is likely to be more effective to call or write, than attending a meeting when an ordinance is in final passage anyway. Create a relationship with your council office. They need to know their constituents, so very few actually interact with them.

Here are the other points of contact with your County Council while they are making changes to your communities:

The Economic and Infrastructure Development Committee meets every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month at 9:30 a.m. in the Council Chambers.

The Rules and Operations Committee meets every Monday at 10:00 am in the Council Chambers.

The Community Development Committee meets every 1st and 3rd Monday
of the month at 1:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers.

The Public Safety, Human Services, and Budget Committee meets every 2nd and 4th Monday, of the month at 1:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers.

Study Session occurs every Monday at 11:00 a.m. and Tuesday at 12:00 p.m.

The Select Committee on Human Services meets every 1st and 3rd Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.

The Pierce County Council is located in the County-City Building, 950 Tacoma Avenue 10th Floor, Tacoma, WA 98405.
