Per our Pierce County Charter, each County Councilmember is required to hold one in-district meeting in the evening each year. May 7 will be the date for the 6th Council District meeting, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at James Sales Elementary, 1301 113th St S, Tacoma, WA 98444.
This year, the focus will be on homeless youth and young adults. Speakers include:
- Clover Park and Franklin Pierce School Districts about the work they do with McKinney-Vento youth (young people living without a place to call home).
- Helping Hand House, which works with foster youth.
- Family Promise of Puget Sound, which is working to quickly place families with children in safe, stable housing.
Like all Council meetings, this meeting is hybrid—you can join in person, on Zoom, or watch on PCTV. The meeting will end with a Community Forum, which is a chance for the public to share thoughts, questions, or ideas with the full Council. It is a sort of listen and learn for them. They are not allowed to respond during that part.
Here is the link to the meeting remote attendance information. Once the materials are ready, you can see the packet (all the slides and materials shared with us and the public).
