At 6 p.m. Friday Relay for Life Central Pierce kicked off events at Franklin Pierce Stadium. For 24 hours, they will walk in teams, and in their booths, sell everything from wrist bands to cupcakes to raise money toward curing cancer.
The even began with an introduction of cancer survivors, from the longest survivor to the newest. Those entrants circled the stadium ont he first lap. Then each team was introduced to being their laps while the cancer survivors were treated to a special dinner.
The teams will continue making laps throughout the night. Next to their booths, there are tents set up for those who need to take a rest. Later in the evening, they will light luminaries decorated to honor loved ones with cancer or those who have passed.
The event ends Saturday by 6 p.m. Visitors are welcome to stop by and donate to the cause. More photos are located on the Post’s Facebook page.
