BETHEL SCHOOL DISTRICT — Graham-Kapowsin High School athletes apparently have what it takes to be successful both on and off the field.
Six of the school’s fall teams recently were given WIAA State Distinguished Team Awards for maintaining high grades in the classroom.
The Washington Dairy Farmers and Les Schwab Tires, in partnership with the WIAA, have developed the scholastic awards program to recognize and reward teams and groups that maintain a high collective academic record.
The awards are open to Varsity, Junior Varsity and “C” level sports teams, activity squads and fine arts groups.
Teams and groups with an average GPA of 3.00 – 3.49 qualify for the Distinguished Team Award. Those with an average of 3.50 – 4.00 receive an Outstanding Team Award.
