One a very warm and sunny August 2nd, folks from all over South Pierce County gathered for the annual Frederickson Freddie Fest. Booths with private schools, the library, local banks, local businesses, politicians, crafts, and other items for sale surrounded the building of Sound Life Church. In the road below the chuch were booths of Chili Cookoff competitors. In the adjacent field were acres of classic cars competing for awards and prizes.
Ted Vigil, a John Denver impersonator provided musical entertainment on the stage near the Chili Cookoff.
Chili Cookoff winners:
Traditional Chili – 1st Place, Ricky J’s; 2nd Place, Legal Shield; 3rd Place Umpqua Bank
Alternative Chili – 1st Place, Sports Clips; 2nd Place Blade Tech; 3rd Place Ricky J’s
Peoples Choice – 1st Place, 723 Networking; 2nd Place, Legal Shield; 3rd Place Sports Clips
Best Booth Decorations – 1st Place 723 Networking; 2nd Place, Sports Clips; 3rd Place State Farm
And winner for the second year in a row for Worst Chili – State Farm was awarded the coveted golden doggy dish.
The Frederickson Community Service Award is now named in honor of the late John Austen. This year’s winner was John Marshall.
The car show award information was not readily available at the event. Charlie Maxwell will be providing this in a few days.
