Hello all:
This is an update on the proposed Lake Kapowsin Aquatic Reserve and current status of the management planning process. The Planning Committee met three times in fall 2015 and helped provide input for the draft plan. A mostly complete draft is in review by the committee at this time, and a fourth meeting is set for January 22 from 10:00 am – 12:30 pm in Graham. Patrick Pringle, geologist, will kick off the meeting with a presentation on the formation of the lake. That will be followed by a work session for the committee to work on the plan. Public attendees are welcome; we ask that visitors allow the committee members to work uninterrupted during the work session. There will be time reserved for public comment; please let me know if you plan to attend and I’ll provide additional detail.
We will send the draft management plan out for public review when the final draft is complete, and the plan will be submitted for State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) permit review. The SEPA review will include a locally held public meeting. Copies will be available at the local library and we’ll send you a link to the document on the DNR website. Let me know if you have any questions,
Thank you, Birdie Davenport, Aquatic Reserves Program Manager, Aquatic Resources Division
