JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. – Joint Base Lewis-McChord will conduct day and night firing on the following date(s):
DATE Monday May 16 thru Friday May 20, 2016
Monday May 23 thru Thursday May 26, 2016
TIME Day and Night
FIRING OF 60, 81 & 120 mm mortars
Several units on JBLM will conduct day and night training over the next two weeks with 60, 81 and 120 mm mortars. Increased levels of activity may be noticed beginning in the day and lasting through evening and nighttime hours.
This training is in preparation for U.S. Army Special Operations Command training that will be conducted here at JBLM June 13 – 25.
This is required training, which allows military members to practice and improve skills necessary during combat. As often as possible, JBLM conducts larger scale weapons and demolition training and artillery firing at the JBLM Yakima Training Center in an effort to minimize inconvenience for the surrounding communities. However, some training must take place on base.
Queries or comments about noise may be directed to the JBLM Public Affairs Office’s External Communication Division hotline at (253) 967-0852, daily.
