July 20 – Public Forum on “City of Pierce”

MIDLAND — Community associations in South Pierce County that developed their own community plans joined forces this past month when they heard the ten “City of Pierce” bandied about by the Pierce County’s Planning and Land Services. They took action when the County Council placed a resolution in committee on a Monday and tried to send it to final approval on Tuesday.

Now they want the public to come out for more information on what the county is proposing. The forum is July 20, 7 p.m. at the Mid-County Community Center, 10205 44th Ave. E., Tacoma, WA 98446. This is behind Central Avenue Elementary School on 104th Street.

Will it mean your community will be annexed to Tacoma or Puyallup?

Will it mean you will find yourself in a new city called Pierce centered around the Frederickson Industrial tax base?

Are there alternatives?

What will happen to the “rural separator” along  Waller Road?

Or was this just another county farce to make sure they get their transportation funds from the Puget Sound Regional Council and they still won’t fix the lack of services required in the Growth Management Act?

Join the Pierce Communities Coalition for an information evening where you can discuss what options local citizens have on this issue.
