SPANAWAY, WA — When the newest Spanaway Elementary building was built on Park Avenue, there was a plan in place to demolish the Pacific Avenue building and put the sports fields for the school in its place. That plan was delayed due to a need that arose in the Franklin Pierce School District, a need for space to house their early childhood learning facility.
Franklin Pierce School District purchased and remodeled the abandoned Parkland Methodist Church building as its new Early Childhood Learning facility and no longer needed the Bethel facility. So this past week, the demolition became obvious.
Here are a few photos from the progress on August 11. There are still several remaining buildings that will be taken down after the initial material is sorted for recycling.
