PARKLAND, WA — Moms, dads, kids, PLU students, Parks employees and even Councilman Rick Talbot turned out Saturday to help build the playground equipment and supporting structures at Mayfield Park Saturday.
The parks department set up and information booth and the volunteers brought cookies, pizza, water, Gatorade and other assorted food and beverages to keep the volunteers refreshed.
At 12:30 p.m., when the Post showed up to take photos, the PLU students had already left for the day. Parks Capital Projects Manager Ben Barrett said this was the first time the department decided to let the group of residents join in to help with the project construction. The Mayfair Dream Project had a large base of volunteers.
