Another community legend passes

[Editor note: Jim was so instrumental in so many ventures, but was always careful to remain behind the scenes. I know we all can thank him for the beautiful photographs in the Pierce Prairie Post, but he would never admit to helping us get the beautiful camera we use. Rest peacefully Jim – condolences to your family.]

SWCA Board Members and Others in the Community,

I am very sorry to report to you that our dear friend, fellow board member and community activist, Jim Akers, passed away last night (Saturday, September 30th) at 6 pm. His cancer treatments were a great struggle for him reaching a point where he struggled to breathe. Words cannot begin to describe the loss to his family, but also the great loss to the Summit-Waller Community and beyond. As per his wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. Please keep Jim and his family in your thoughts and prayers. Feel free to pass this announcement on to anyone who would want to know of his passing, because I’m sure that I have just scratched the surface of those who knew him, discovering a warm, generous and very smart man. We will truly miss him.

Larry Volland, President

Summit-Waller Community Association
