Daytime closure on SR 7 in Alder Aug. 16

EATONVILLE– Daytime travelers who use State Route 7 in Alder will want to build extra time into their trips Wednesday, Aug. 16.

From 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 16, Washington State Department of Transportation maintenance crews will close SR 7 between SR 161 and Alder Cutoff Road East. During the closure, drivers will follow a signed detour along Alder Cutoff Road East, adding approximately 10 minutes of travel time through the area.

Pierce County weight restrictions are in place on Alder Cutoff Road East. Overweight loads can detour via US 12, Interstate 5, SR 507 and SR 702.

Emergency services and local residents will have access through SR 7 during the closure.

Whenever near work zones please:

  • Slow down – drive the posted speeds, they’re there for your safety.
  • Be kind – our workers are out there helping to keep you safe and improve the roadways.
  • Pay attention – both to workers directing you and surrounding traffic.
  • Stay Calm – expect delays, leave early or take alternate routes if possible; no meeting or appointment is worth risking someone’s life.

Real-time traveler information is available from the WSDOT app and WSDOT Travel Center Map.
