Job Opportunity with Parks and Recreation

Pierce County Parks and Recreation is accepting applications for seasonal/temporary work as a Recreation Assistant for the Active Adults Trips and Tours Program.

Applicants will provides leadership and functional supervision by safely transporting participants in standard passenger vans. This position may work evenings, weekends and assist in other events and programs when applicable.

Applications must be 21 years of age. The position pays $12.00‐ $14/Hour DOQ. Typical work schedule will be less than 25 hours per month. Additional work hours may be available on an intermittent basis, such as during the spring summer months.  Position is open until filled.

Family Bingo Night at Meridian Habitat Park serves up fall fun for everyone

Fall is in the air and that means sounds of family fun will be heard from miles around Parks & Recreation’s Annual Family Bingo Night at Meridian Habitat Park on Friday, Nov. 4 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. in South Hill Puyallup.

Doors open at 6 p.m. Event admission is $5 per person; children 3-years-old and younger are free. Cost includes a packet of six bingo sheets. Pre-register online or call (253) 798-4141 by Oct. 31 so you don’t miss out on the fun!  

Bring your own highlighter or bingo daubers. Extra game cards and daubers will be available for purchase at the door and concessions will be on-site to fulfill your appetites. Prizes that will be awarded to the winners include some of the following items donated by our outstanding sponsors:

             Jersey Mikes (4 free subs)

             Pierce Transit (Free ORCA card)

             Museum of Glass (4 entrance tickets)

             Sprinker Recreation Center (4 Ice skating passes)

Yoga Classes

Pierce County Parks and Recreation offers two types of yoga classes at Frontier Park in Graham, 21718 Meridian E.  New sessions of both start the week of October 24 with six week sessions.  The evening Hatha Yoga class is held Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30pm for a fee of $54 –one day per week or $108 for two days per week.  Iyengar Yoga is designed for the less flexible and meets Wednesdays at 10:00am for a fee of $75.  To register or for more information call 253-841-6812 or www.piercecountywa.org/parks
